The Vice President earlier today Tuesday flagged off the Federal Government’s Livestock Transformation Plan at the Gongoshi Grazing Reserve In Mayo- Belwa Li al Government Area of Adamawa State.
Inaugurating the project the VP said the project is expected to run from 2029-2018 as part of the Federal Government ‘s initiative in collaboration with states under the auspices of the National Economic Council.
He said the plan target at supporting the development of livestock agriculture in Nigeria is to be implemented in 7 pilot states namely: Benue, Kaduna, Plateau, Nassarawa, Tarabaand Zamfara.
He added that each state was allowed to form their own model of implementation.
He further reiterated that in the project the state government or private investors will provide the land needed, stating that the Federal Government will not take any land from the state of local government.
This forms part of efforts at solving the fakers- herders crisis and delivering in the ERGP initiatives and outcomes.
The plan also ensures a practical response to the climate change issues of water and pasture shortages across the country while impacting insecurity challenges
