Pope Francis visits Morocco, renews commitment in bridging religious beliefs and society

Poor Francis is on a two day visit to Morocco. This is in his continued efforts in bridging the religious gulf between major beliefs and their impacts on society.

King Mohammed VI welcomed the pope on his arrival on Saturday

Pope Francis devoted the first day of a two-day visit to Morocco on Saturday to two of his signature themes: the rights of migrants and relations between Christians and Muslims.

Morocco is the ninth majority-Muslim country that Pope Francis has visited, showing the high priority that he has given to outreach to the Muslim world. The visit comes less than two months after he traveled to the United Arab Emirates, the first visit by a pope to the Arabian Peninsula.

Pope Francis commended the King of Morocco in his efforts to stamp out extremism by accommodating other religious beliefs.
